Pip trained in Theatre Design and Allied Crafts at Croydon College where she won the Cliff Bayliss Award for Design. She moved to Scarborough in 1996 to work at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, first as Design Assistant, then working her way up to Resident Designer.
During her time there she designed over 40 productions: Christmas shows such as Mr A’s Amazing Maze Plays, The Champion of Paribanou, Miss Yesterday, My Sister Sadie; Ayckbourn premiers including Orvin-Champion of Champions, Neighbourhood Watch, Life and Beth and the costumes for Improbable Fiction some of which went on to tour the UK; many Ayckbourn revivals including Bedroom Farce, Snake in The Grass and Haunting Julia; Ayckbourn plays Private Fears In Public Places and Neighbourhood Watch both crossed the Atlantic to be part of the Brits off Broadway Season at 59E59 in New York.
Pip has also worked frequently with Hull Truck and John Godber through the years, designing many shows including: Bouncers, Perfect Pitch, Say it with Flowers, Up ‘n’ Under, Seasons in the Sun, The Office Christmas Party, Wuthering Heights, Sold, Debt Collectors, Loosing The Plot and Funny Turns which opened Hull Trucks new theatre on the Ferensway in 2009.
She has also worked with Dark Horse Theatre Company: Sing Something Simple, Snake Bite and #unit21 working alongside learning disabled actors. Their production of The Garden was reimagined as an audio piece in 2020 for which Pip supplied accompanying illustrations.
Over the last few years she has designed and painted the sets for five pantos at The Theatre Chipping Norton Aladdin, Rapunzel, Puss in Boots, Dick Whittington and Cinderella. She also designed the set for A Regular Little Houdini which played at the Vienna English Theatre.
A keen narrowboater, Pip has spent the last ten years cruising the British inland waterways with her partner Mick and cat Tilly.
